Etymologie
Annulatus (= beringt), bezieht sich auf eine Reihe breiter, ovaler, dunkelbraun-schwarzer Ringe, einer in dem anderen, auf dem Oberkörper, wobei der äußere und größte Ring fast die gesamte Oberfläche des Rückens und der Seiten umfasst. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Ostpazifik: Südkalifornien (USA) südlich bis Peru, einschließlich des Golfs von Kalifornien (Mexiko) und Galapagos-Inseln (Ecuador).
