Typusfundort: Abant-See, nördliches Anatolien, asiatische Türkei.
Etymologie
Benannt nach der Typuslokalität, dem Abant-See.
Verbreitung
Türkei: Abant Gölü, Provinz Bolu, nordhwestliches Anatolien (Türkei); eingeführt in der Wasserscheide des Schwarzen Meeres.
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 24.07.2021:VU Vulnerable (gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Im Abant-See ging die Population dieser Art (in den 1970er Jahren) aufgrund einer Krankheit zurück, die durch die gebietsfremde Oncorhynchus mykiss (Regenbogenforelle) eingeschleppt worden war. Die Regenbogenforrel kommt jetzt nicht mehr im See vor, es ist aber nicht bekannt, ob die Krankheit in der Salmo abanticus-Population noch vorhanden ist. Wasserentnahme und Dürre gelten nicht als Bedrohung.
