Etymologie
Loricata (= gepanzert), bezieht sich auf „bemerkenswert ausgedehnte und geschwollene“ Knochen des Brustgürtels. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)

Zirkumglobal in tropischen bis kalten gemäßigten Meeren.
