Etymologie
Affinis (= verwandt), bezieht sich vermutlich auf die wahrgenommene enge Verwandtschaft und/oder Ähnlichkeit mit Cynopotamus amazonum (beide Arten wurden damals in der Gattung Anacyrtus [= Charax] in der gleichen Veröffentlichung beschrieben). (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
