Typen
Lectotypus: CAS 44214.
Typusfundort: Ajamuri, Strand am Lago Grande an der Mündung vom rio Maicuru, östlich von Santarem, Bundesstaat Para, Brasilien.
Etymologie
Doppelt gefärbtes Kleidungsstück oder Gewand, Anspielung nicht erklärt, möglicherweise in Bezug auf dunkelviolett-braune Körperfarbe und weißer Bauch und/oder „Reihen dunkler Flecken, die die Schuppenreihe herunterlaufen, möglicherweise mit einer Reihe von kastanienbraunen Punkten dazwischen Reihen". Huber (1992) schlägt vor, dass sich der Name auf die blaue und rote Farbe bei männlichen Tieren beziehen könnte, aber diese Farben werden von Myers (1927) nicht erwähnt (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project).
Verbreitung
Unteres rio Tapajós und unteres rio Trombetas-Becken, östliches Amazonas-Becken.
