Typusfundort: Taminazaki, China, Insel Okinoerabu, Amami Inseln, Kagoshima, Japan, 27°24'17"N, 128°32'20"E (Karte), 20–25 m Tiefe.
Etymologie
Geminus (= Zwilling oder Doppel), in Bezug auf die beiden gelben Streifen auf dem Hinterleib und die große morphologische Ähnlichkeit dieser Art mit Lepadichthys lineatus, als die sie vor ihrer Beschreibung identifiziert wurde.
Verbreitung
Pazifik: Derzeit nur aus Südjapan und Indonesien bekannt, wo sie normalerweise mit Crinoiden kommensal lebt (sie ist selten mit felsigem Substrat in der Nähe von Seeigeln verbunden). Die disjunkte Verbreitung spiegelt wahrscheinlich den häufig übersehenen Lebensraum und die daraus resultierende schlechte Sammlungslage wider. Daher kommt die Art wahrscheinlicher zwischen Japan und Indonesien vor.
