Typen
Lectotypus: RMNH PISC 5609 (30.7 mm SL).
- Lectotypus ausgewählt von Yoshida & Motomura (2018:185).
Paralectotypen: (39, jetzt 37) RMNH 5609 (37) Molukken. Ein Exemplar als Verulux solmaculata RMNH PISC 34136 verschoben.
Typusfundort: Ternate, Molukken, Indonesien.

Verbreitung
Indo-Westpazifik: Süd- und Ostafrika, Madagaskar und Mauritius (Maskarenen) östlich zu den Marshall-Inseln und Fidschi, nördlich nach Südjapan, südlich nach Westaustralien, Queensland (Australien) und Neukaledonien.
