Etymologie
Pseudo- (= falsch), Anspielung nicht erklärt, vermutlich in Bezug auf seine vermutete enge Verwandtschaft mit Amia, einem nicht-binominalen Namen, der von Gronow (1763) auf Apogon angewendet wurde, heute ein häufig verwendetes Namensanhängsel in der Familie. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
