Typusfundort: New Caledonia, 22°6'S, 167°10'1.2"E (Karte), Schleppnetz Fang in 500–550 m Tiefe.
Etymologie
Das Art-Epitheton stammt vom Lat. crassus (= dick, fett oder korpulent), in Bezug auf das allgemeine Aussehen des Holotypus.
