Etymologie
Xanthos (= gelb); maculatus (= gefleckt), bezieht sich auf den großen gelben Fleck, der sich zwischen dem achten Rückenflossenstachel und dem fünften Rückenflossenstrahl erstreckt und vom Rückenprofil bis zur Körpermitte reicht. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
