Holotypus: USNM 70268.
Typusfundort: Lingayen Gulf, Westküste der Insel Luzon, 16°30'36"N, 120°11'06"E (Karte), Philippinen, Albatross Station 5442, 45 Faden Tiefe.
Etymologie
Sub- (= weniger als oder etwas); teres (= zylindrisch oder leicht spitz zulaufend), Anspielung nicht erklärt, vielleicht auf die Körperform bezogen. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Östlicher Indischer Ozean, westlicher Pazifik: Bali (Indonesien) östlich bis Maluku (Indonesien) und Philippinen, nördlich bis Südjapan.
