Etymologie
Flavus (= gel); cauda (= Schwanz), bezeiht sich auf die gelb Schwanzflosse der Männchen.

Malawisee: Zimbawe Rock (13°57.925’S, 34°48.189’E (Karte)) und um die Insel Mumbo (13°59.5’S, 34°45.4’E (Karte))
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 21.2.2022VU Vulnerable (gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Es sind keine unmittelbaren Bedrohungen bekannt, da beide bekannten Fundorte außerhalb des direkten Einflusses der Sedimentation liegen und beide innerhalb des Nationalparks liegen. Bisher wurden an beiden Fundorten keine eingeschleppten Exoten angetroffen. Die Art wird nicht mehr für den Aquarienfischhandel gefangen.
