Etymologie
Von mastix (= griechisch für Peitsche), bezieht sich auf filamentöse Brust- und Rückenflossen; glanis, Wels (Silurus glanis), wird heute allgemein für Welse verwendet. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
