Etymologie

Benannt zu Ehren des amerikanischen Zoologen Theodore Nicholas Gill (1837-1914), Smithsonian Institution (Washington, D.C.), der diese Gattung in einem unveröffentlichten Manuskript als Erster erkannte (und benannte).
