Etymologie

Fasciatus (= gebändert), bezieht sich vermutlich auf eine Reihe von Querstreifen entlang des Oberkörpers und/oder auf ein schwarzes Seitenband. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)

Verbreitung

Südöstlicher Indischer Ozean, westlicher Pazifik: Philippinen und Neuguinea östlich bis zu den Gilbert-Inseln und Fidschi, nördlich bis Südjapan, südlich bis Rottnest Island (Westaustralien), New South Wales (Australien), Lord Howe Island, Norfolk Island und Kermadec Islands.
