Typusfundort: Elat, Israel, Rotes Meer, 29°32'36.04"N, 34°58'25.53"E (Karte), 1‒1,5 m Tiefe.
Etymologie
Der spezifische Name ist eine Kombination aus dem lateinischen lux (= Licht) und oculus (= Auge) und bezieht sich auf das einzelne Lichtorgan am vorderen Rand der Augenhöhle.
Verbreitung
Nur aus der im Roten Meer gesammelten Typenserie bekannt; diese Art scheint ein Flachwasserbewohner zu sein, der in der Nähe der Oberfläche aufgesammelt wurde.
