Etymologie
Vermutlich ein lokaler bengalischer Name, da es Hamiltons Praxis war, Trivialnamen "von einigen der von den Ureinwohnern Indiens verwendeten" abzuleiten. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Asien: Indien, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka; in Asien als Besatz weit verbreitet worden.
