Typusfundort: Brasilien, Pará, Altamira, Rio Xingu, Pimental Furo da Crente, 3°27’30”S, 51°54’41”W (Karte).
Etymologie
Der spezifische Name ist eine Anspielung auf die Marderart Gulo gulo, die wegen ihrer stumpfen Statur, ihrer starken Krallen und ihrer Wildheit auch als Wolverine, Vielfraß, Bärenmarder, Gierling, Giermagen, Gierschlund oder Järv bekannt ist.
Verbreitung
Brasilien: Mittlerer Rio Xingu, vom unmittelbar flussabwärts gelegenen Dorf Belo Monte über die gesamte Volta Grande do Xingu bis in die Nähe von São Félix do Xingu und im Rio Iriri unmittelbar stromaufwärts seines Zusammenflusses mit dem Xingu bis zur Mündung des Rio Curua.
