Etymologie
Australis (= lateinisch für südlich), bezieht sich auf seine Verbreitung in der tropischen südlichen Hemisphäre. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Westlicher Zentralpazifik: beschränkt auf die Australasiatische Platte, vor Papua-Neuguinea und Nordaustralien, von Shark Bay (vor Westaustralien) bis Brisbane (vor Queensland).
