Etymologie
Von hemi- (= teilweise); myzon, vielleicht in Bezug auf Gastromyzon (Gastromyzontidae), da die 15-16 Beckenflossenstrahlen von Hemimyzon formosanus, "mit ausgedehnten Basen, die nach hinten konvergieren, sich der Gastromyzon-Struktur annähern". (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
