Typusfundort: Ujiji, Tanganjikasee.

Etymologie

Patronym nicht identifiziert, aber wahrscheinlich zu Ehren von Kapitän Richard Francis Burton (1821-1890), englischer Entdecker, Geograph und Diplomat, der zusammen mit John Hanning Speke den Tanganjikasee (die Typuslokalität) auf der Suche nach der Quelle des Nils entdeckte. Ostafrika: Tanganjikasse und Zuflüsse, anderswo eingeführt: z.B. in die Seen Chila und Cohoha.
