Etymologie

Basalis, bezieht sich vermutlich auf „breites gelbes Basalband“ auf den Brustflossen. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)

Gefahren für diese Art: Der standortspezifische Verlust von Larven-, Laich- und Aufzuchthabitaten durch Kanalisierung und möglicherweise Wasserentnahme sind potenzielle Bedrohungen für diese Art. Da sie keine Meeresphase hat, ist ihre Fähigkeit, neue Flusssysteme zu besiedeln, begrenzt und sobald sie aus einem Gebiet verschwunden ist, ist es unwahrscheinlich, dass sie sich von selbst wieder ansiedeln werden.
