Etymologie
Gobio (= abgeleitet vom griechischen kobios, koviós oder kóthus), bedeutet höchstwahrscheinlich Kopf und wird gewöhnlich auf kleine, benthische Fische mit großen Köpfen angewandt (z. B. Grundeln, Gobius, und Groppen, Cottus, die einige frühe Naturforscher mit Gründlingen verwechselten). (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
