Typusfundort: Río Asisa, 22-30 Kilometer stromaufwärts nach dem Zusammenfluss mit dem Río Paru, Río Ventuari Einzug, Orinoco River Becken, etwa 4°33'N, 65°54'W, in 115 m Höhe (Karte).
Etymologie
Von nanus (= klein); noticolus (= Nacht-Liebhaber), nimmt Bezug auf die geringe Erwachsenengröße (~22 mm SL) und scheinbare nächtliche Lebensgewohnheiten. (Übersetzt aus The ETYFish Project)
