Typusfundort: Coal Creek, Nebenfluss des South Fork des Canadian River, nördlich von McAlester, Pittsburg County, Oklahoma, USA.
Etymologie
Clavis (= Balken); forma (= Form), wahrscheinlich in Bezug auf deutlichen vertikale Balken, die bei jüngeren Exemplaren zu sehen sind. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
USA: Lower Greak Lakes und Mississippi River Becken von Süd-Michigan und Südost-Wisconsin (dort ausgerottet) südlich bis zum Golf; Gulf Slope-Entwässerungen von der Entwässerung des Apalachicola River in Georgia bis zum San Jacinto River in Texas.
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 24.11.2021:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Die Populationen in Bächen, die der Verlandung ausgesetzt waren, gingen offenbar früher zurück.
