Etymologie
Benannt zu Ehren des Arztes und Naturforschers David Humphreys Storer (1804-1891), in Würdigung der „herausragenden Verdienste dieses Pioniers der amerikanischen Ichthyologie, der vor mehr als einem halben Jahrhundert mit der systematischen Erforschung der Fauna des Westatlantiks begann“.
