Typusfundort: Brasilien, Bundesstaat Piauí, Gemeinde Jacobina do Piauí, temporärer Tümpel auf der rechten Seite der Straße zwischen Conceição do Canindé and Jacobina do Piauí, 08°00'54"S, 41°25'26"W.
Etymologie
Der Artname "parnaibensis" bezieht sich auf das Vorkommen dieser Art als einzigem Vertreter der Gattung Cynolebias im rio Parnaíba-Becken.
