Typusfundort: vor Inoshima (= Insel Eno-shima), Challenger Station. 232, 345 Faden (= 631 m) Tiefe.
Etymologie
Macro- (= lang oder groß); cheiros (= Hand), bezieht sich auf eine „bemerkenswert lange“ Brustflosse, die sich bis zum Ursprung der zweiten Rückenflosse erstreckt. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Nordwestlicher Pazifik um Japan, einschließlich Taiwan und Korea. Bekannt aus dem Pazifik vor Japan von Kushiro (144.38°E) südlich von Japan vor Niigata und der koreanischen Halbinsel und dem südlichen Ochotskischen Meer vor der Insel Iturup in Tiefen von 158–830 m. Die einzige Art von Coelorinchus, die im Ochotskischen Meer vorkommt. Vor den Pazifikküsten Nordjapans nördlich von Choshi (35.74°N; Präfektur Chiba) verbreitet, in anderen Teilen seines Verbreitungsgebiets jedoch selten.
