Typusfundort: Jolo Markt, Jolo, Philippinen.
Etymologie
Der Name margaretiferus ist lateinisch für "Perlenträger", in Bezug auf die Reihe von Perlmuttflecken auf der Seite des Körpers.
Verbreitung
Ausschliesslich von Okinawa im südlichsten Japan, Taiwan, Philippinen und von Indonesien aus Ostsulawesi und Lombok, in Tiefen bis mindestens 30 m, bekannt.
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 15.09.2017: LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Grund für die Gefährdungseinstufung: Es gibt keine großen Bedrohungen für diese Art. Angesichts der Tatsache, dass dies eine Spezies aus tieferem Wasser ist, ist es unwahrscheinlich, dass ihr Lebensraum bedroht ist.
