Etymologie
Das spezifische Epitheton ehrt Georges Waterlot, der für das Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle (Paris) in Französisch West Africa Fische sammelte, auch Typusmaterial für diese Art. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Chiloglanis waterloti kommt in den Oberläufen der Senegal- und Niger-Einzugsgebiete vor. Diese Art ist in ihrem bevorzugten Lebensraum, fließendes Wasser mit größeren Felsen und Holzstücken, relativ reichlich vorhanden.
