Etymologie
Von charax (= griechisches Wort für "Palisade von spitzen Stöcken"); odon (= Zahn), bezieht sich vermutlich auf „ungefähr zwanzig kleinere Zähne in jedem Kiefer“ von Characodon lateralis. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
