Etymologie
Benannt zu Ehren des Ichthyologen Charles Tate Regan (1878-1943), Natural History Museum (London).
Verbreitung
Zirkumglobal: Atlantik: zwischen 50°N bis 40°S; ein Exemplar wurde bei 30°45'N, 25°47'W und 8 Exemplare von 28°N, 16°E aufgenommen. Indischer Ozean: zwischen 15°N und 31°S. Pazifischer Ozean: zwischen 45°N und 15°S und vor Zentralkalifornien, USA.
