Indopazifik: Ostafrika bis zu den Tuamoto-Inseln, nördlich bis zur Insel Izu, südlich bis zur Lord Howe Insel.

Mögliche Gefahren für diese Art: Es scheint keine größeren Bedrohungen für diese Art zu geben. Obwohl sie häufig für den Aquarienfischhandel gesammelt wird, wird nicht davon ausgegangen, dass die Entnahmemengen die Gesamtpopulation beeinflussen. Es gibt keinen wesentlichen Verlust des Lebensraums im Verbreitungsgebiet dieser Art.
