Etymologie
Punctatissima (= stark gefleckt), d. h. der gesamte Körper hinter dem Kopf ist mit zahlreichen runden, weißlichen Flecken bedeckt. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Tropischer östlicher Pazifik: Guaymas, Mexiko, nach Panama und zu den Galapagos-Inseln.
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 5.4.2022:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Es gibt keine größeren Bedrohungen für diese Art. Wenn jedoch die Richtlinien für den Aquarienfischhandel nicht genau überwacht werden, könnte eine Bedrohung durch übermäßige Ausbeutung bestehen.
