Etymologie
Imbricata (= lat. für überlappend wie Dachziegel oder Schindeln), bezieht sich auf eine Reihe von Knochenschuppen oder Dentikeln auf Schulter und Rücken und entlang des Schwanzes bis zum Stachel. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Historische Informationen wurden durch falsche Identifizierungen im Indo-West-Pazifik verwirrt. Untersuchtes Material bestätigt die Verbreitung im östlichen Arabischen Meer (Kerala, vor Ostindien), in der Laccadivensee (Chilaw, Jaffna, Lunawa, Negombo, Talaimannar, Sri Lanka), und in den südlichen Golf von Bengalen (Coromandel-Küste, Ostindien).
