Etymologie
Lacunosus (= voller Hohlräume), bezieht sich auf grubenartige Poren am Kopf zwischen den Augen (oft von einer großen Schuppe bedeckt). (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Rotes Meer; Indo-Westpazifik: Ostafrika, Persischer Golf, Socotra, Seychellen, Madagaskar und Maskarenen, östlich bis zu den Hawaii-Inseln und dem Tuamotu-Archipel, nördlich bis Südjapan und den Ogasawara-Inseln, südlich bis Westaustralien, New South Wales (Australien) und Rapa; Mittelmeer (Einwanderer aus dem Roten Meer).
