Etymologie
Von amphi- (= doppelt); stichus (= Reihe), vermutlich bezogen auf zwei Reihen von schlanken, konischen Zähnen in jedem Kiefer, wobei die äußere Reihe länger ist. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
