Typusfundort: Aleuten, Seguampass, 52.3353°N, 172.7493°W (Karte), 459 m Tiefe.
Etymologie
Aus dem Griechischen histos (= Segel), und phorus, von phoreús (= gr. für Träger oder Beförderer), spielt auf die verlängerten vorderen Rückenflossenstrahlen an.
Verbreitung
Entlang der Aleuten-Inseln, westlich der Insel Attu auf der Stalemate Bank bis zum Samalga Pass und nördlich im Beringmeer bis zum Zhemchug Canyon bei 57.8157°N, 173.8598°W. Die Sammeltiefen reichen von 117 bis 762 m.
