Etymologie
Wie ein Leopard, bezieht sich auf netzförmige oder gefleckte Muster auf Kopf und Rücken. (Übersetzt aus The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Becken des Maracaibosees und Becken der Flüsse Magdalena, Cauca, San Juan und Tuira.
