Etymologie
Spinosissimus (= sehr stachelig), vermutlich bezogen auf „kurze scharfe“ Dornen am Schulterfortsatz, „von denen eine Reihe in der Nähe des unteren Randes vergrößert sind“. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Amazonas- und Essequibo-Einzugsgebiete: Brasilien, Ecuador, Bolivien, Kolumbien, Guyana und Peru; ?Venezuela.
