Etymologie
–oides, mit der Form, sich auf die Ähnlichkeit mit der Killifish-Gattung Aplocheilus (Aplocheilidae) beziehend, einem Beispiel für konvergente Morphologie (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project).
Verbreitung
Argentinien, Bolivien und Paraguay: Rio Paraguay Einzugsgebiet.
