Etymologie
Thynnos, ein Thunfisch oder großer, makrelenartiger Fisch, bezieht sich auf die Kopfform von Thynnichthys thynnoides dessen Kopf dem des makrelenartigen Thynnus thunnina (= Euthynnus alletteratus) etwas ähnelt. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
