Etymologie
Patronym nicht identifiziert, aber eindeutig zu Ehren von Francis Hamilton-Buchanan (1762-1829), schottischer Arzt und Naturforscher, der 1822 einen einflussreichen Bericht über die Fische des Indischen Ozeans veröffentlichte. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Indo-Westpazifik: Persischer Golf östlich bis zu den Philippinen, nördlich bis Taiwan und den Ogasawara-Inseln, südlich bis Nordaustralien.
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 4.2.2022:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Obwohl diese Art in weiten Teilen ihres Verbreitungsgebiets auf niedrigem Niveau befischt wird, sind derzeit keine größeren Bedrohungen für ihre Bestände bekannt. Sie ist Teil des Beifangs in der nördlichen Krabbenfischerei in Australien. Dies wird als geringes Risiko für den Bestand eingestuft.
