Pazifik: Ostpazifik: Humboldt Bay in Kalifornien, USA bis Mexiko. Nordwestpazifik: Japan.
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 17.12.2020: CR Critically Endangered (vom Aussterben bedroht)
Gefahren für diese Art: Die größte Bedrohung geht von Überfischung aus. Die Art ist jedoch in Kalifornien geschützt (diese Gesetzgebung gilt auch für US-amerikanische Fischer in mexikanischen Gewässern), obwohl gelegentliche Fänge erlaubt sind.
