Typusfundort: Kaimaninseln, Grand Cayman, südwestliche Ecke, 19.286°, -81.392° (Karte), 5–15 m Tiefe.
Etymologie
Das spezifische Epitheton splendens (lateinisch für glänzend, brillant oder prächtig) basiert auf dem eindrucksvollen Aussehen ausgewachsener Männchen der Art.
Verbreitung
Nur von den Kaimaninseln bekannt.
