Typusfundort: Xe Bangfai drainage, "Grotte des Nuages", near Ban Nong Ping, 17°22'54"N, 105°53'05"E (Karte), Khammouan Province, Laos.
Etymologie
Von musaeum (= Höhle), bezieht sich auf den Höhlenlebensraum im zentralen Laos. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)

Status: Stand 19.04.2017: VU Vulnerable (gefährdet)
Grund für die Gefährdungseinstufung: Habitatstörungen durch touristische Aktivitäten, die im Höhlensystem stattfinden, und das Interesse aus dem internationalen Aquarienhandel könnte in Zukunft zu Bedrohungen werden.
