Typusfundort: Südlich der Insel Molokai, Hawaii-Inseln, Albatross-Station 3849 [oder 3810], Tiefe 43-73 Faden (= ca. 78,6 - 133,5 m).
Etymologie
Colorata (= farbig), vermutlich auf die Färbung in Alkohol hinweisend: obere Körperhälfte weitgehend leuchtend rosarot oder violett, durchzogen von wenigen unregelmäßig geschwungenen Linien grau-olivfarbener Grundfarbe; rote Flecken auf Wangen, Kiemendeckel, Kiemenhäuten und Gaumen; Rückenflossen rötlich mit weißem Pigment, das Rot intensiver in der Nähe des Flossenrandes, die Dornenspitzen schmal weiß. Pazifik: Hawaiianische Inseln, in Tiefen von 79–272 m.
