Typusfundort: Andamanensee, westlich von Maliwun, Myanmar, 10°20.97N, 97°46.14E (Karte), 69 m Tiefe.
Etymologie
Epitheton nach dem Standort Ranong-Fischanlandung (West-Thailand), von dem das erste Exemplar vor 25 Jahren gesammelt wurde, und anschließend die meisten Exemplare.
Verbreitung
Bisher nur von der Andamanensee bekannt.
