Etymologie
Pyros (= Feuer); notos (= Rücken); Anthias (= Gattung von Fahnenbarschen). Der Name spielt auf die charakteristischen roten Flecken oder Streifen auf dem oberen Schwanzstiel und unter dem hinteren Teil der Rückenflosse der genannten Arten an.
