Etymologie
Von pterus (= Flosse), vermutlich bezogen auf filamentöse Flossenstrahlen der unpaaren Flossen bei Pterolebias longipinnis Männchen; lebias, es wurde eine Stellung zwischen Rivulus und Lebias (= Aphanius, Aphaniidae vermutet). (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
